What are BOTOX ® and Jeuveau ™?
At West Asheville Aesthetics & Wellness in Asheville, we offer BOTOX ® and Jeuveau ™, FDA-approved cosmetic injectables that temporarily reduce muscle activity to soften deep wrinkles and expression lines caused by repetitive muscle contractions. These treatments use a purified, safe form of botulinum toxin A. Beyond cosmetic applications, healthcare providers prescribe both injectables to treat medical issues such as excessive sweating, overactive bladder, neck spasms, crossed eyes, chronic pain, and migraines.
Applications for BOTOX® and Jeuveau™ Cosmetic
When injected, BOTOX® and Jeuveau™ block nerve impulses to specific muscles, relaxing them to reduce the appearance of moderate-to-severe lines. Common treatment areas include:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines (or “elevens”)
- Jowling
- Crow’s feet
- Neck bands
- Chin dimpling
Procedure and Results
A qualified professional uses a very fine needle to inject BOTOX® or Jeuveau™ into targeted facial muscles. Although anesthesia isn’t required, ice or a topical anesthetic can be applied for comfort. Jeuveau™ results typically appear within a few days, while BOTOX® results emerge in 10-14 days. Both treatments generally last about three to four months, with regular treatments potentially extending their effects.
Side Effects
Most side effects, such as pain, swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site, are mild and temporary. Rarely, patients may experience drooping eyelids or brows, which usually resolve within three weeks and can many times be corrected with additional injection points.
